I'm here today for another Saw It. Pinned It. Did It
This craft was a bit more labor intense than my previous SI.PI.DI posts.
But I'm fully in love with the way they turned out so the time and muscle was totally worth it!
Inspiration:
The glass blocks needed for this can be bought about anywhere. Home improvement stores, craft stores, supply shops. I actually got mine from an auction. An elderly man had a HUGE stock pile of them he used for windows in his farm sheds. He was headed into a nursing home so they where getting rid of all kinds of un-needed junk. One man's junk is another man's treasure! I snagged a couple dozen of these blocks for $0.50 a piece. Score!
The first step (and the labor intensive part of the operation) is to drill a hole in the side of the glass block. For this you'll need a glass drill bit and some muscles. It does take about 5 to 10 minutes per block to drill the holes.
Next string a small set of lights (30 bulbs will be plenty) into the block and apply your vinyl. The vinyals that I used are from an online shop called Vinyl Gifts and More. Totally cute stuff for all different seasons!
After applying the vinyl I wrapped the sides of the block with ribbon and added bows to the top of each block for a little more cute-ness. You could also add fake flowers, fake greenery, jingle bells, a small ornament or whatever else you please. Be creative!
Creations:
I think I've made about a dozen or so of these already.
