Saw It. Pinned It. Did It: Santa Hat Party Mix

1.03.2013

Here today for another round of Saw It. Pinned It. Did It with
Stephanie and Katie. With Christmas and the New Year I didn't have a whole lot of time to craft so today we're going to go with a recipe because even in my lack of time I had to squeeze in time to create some Christmas treats!

This is one of the easiest, most delicious Christmas treats and it's adorable to boot! Who could ask for more? It's been floating around on Pinterest forEVER so I'm sure that you've all seen it. But, it's become one of my tradition treats for the past two years so I couldn't let my family and co-workers down!

Santa Hat Party Mix

Inspiration:

Creation:

For The Santa Hats You'll Need:
 Bugles {Plain or caramel}
 Red Melting disks {Found at Hobby Lobby, JoAnns or WalMart}
Mini Marshmallows
White Nonpareils

For The Party Mix You'll Need:
3 cups Mini Pretzels
1 cup Salted Dry Roasted Peanuts
2 cups Rice Chex
2 cups Holiday M&M's
8 ounces White Chocolate {For melting}
{Feel free to get creative & use whatever kind of ingredients you please}

 To Create You'll Need To:
Melt the red melting disks, in 30 second intervals in the microwave until melted. Immediately start dipping the Bugles, using a fork to scoop it out and gently shake off the excess. Let the coated Bugles set for 10 minutes on
parchment/wax paper.
After the Bugles are set, re-melt the red candy and re-dip just the bottoms into the melted candy and then into the white nonpareils. Next, re-dip the top of the Bugle into the melted candy and top with a mini marshmallow. Set aside.
Combine party mix ingredients in a large bowl and give it a good stir. Melt white chocolate according to package directions and drizzle over the mix evenly. Stir the mix until well coated and spread onto a lined {parchment/wax paper} cookie sheet  lined baking sheet and let set When chocolate is set, break up and  add the finished Santa hats into the party mix.

And enjoy! Super simple and only mildly time consuming!
I made three batches of this mix for Christmas and there's only a small handful left! My family loves it. My co-workers love it. And my friends love it.
  It's an all around win!
